Silk screen onto
fabric can be as simple as child's play. Screen print short lengths
of your own design onto fabric with cut paper stencils. Additional
range of further embellishments will be to hand to add texture and
uniqueness to your pieces. Or design and make a length of fabric to
turn into unique items like tea towels or cushion covers to shorten
your Christmas present list! Or what about your very own printed
wrapping papers, book covers, etc. The list is endless. Clare runs the
Bill Quay Fabric workshop, designing and hand printing 10m lengths of
silk and cotton fabrics with a variety of low-tech print methods,
often adding further detail through stitching. See

CLARE SATOW
came to
screen printing through involvement with community arts on Tyneside in the
1980s and took to carrying a print workshop around with her, making
banners, flags, books and posters with schools, in hospitals and community
spaces across the region.She set up the Bill Quay fabric workshop in a
converted corner shop 2 years ago and there she prints, by hand, 10m
lengths of heavy silk, Clare still works in schools and enjoys
collaborative project with artists and makers in many materials.
