MONOTYPE WITH STENCILS
Saturday
November 13 2010 |10.00 – 16.00
With Carol Nunan and
Rebecca Vincent
Learn to make
prints using simple acetate shapes inked and layered on to a background
plate. Work with the subsequent layers of residual ink to create further
interesting prints that change and develop as you work. Incorporate drawn
elements and collaged papers – each print will be completely unique!
THE TRANSFER DRAWN LINE
Saturday
November 27 2010 | 10.00 – 16.00
With Rebecca
Vincent and Carol Nunan
Do you love
the direct fluidity of the drawn line? Learn this very simple monotype
method of transferring ink through the touch of a tool to the surface of
the paper with lots of expressive possibilities. Subtle, immediate
mark-making is the beauty of this printmaking technique. Students will
learn how to make an at-home registration system that allows for multiple
colour drawing and creating prints without a press. If you’ve made
monotypes before, bring them along and try drawing into them using this
method.
Viscosity Monotypes
With Carol Nunan
Friday | 18 February 2011 | 10.00 - 16.00
This is a very particular painterly approach to monotype. Viscosity
monotypes use inks mixed with different amounts of oil. Starting with ink mixed
to a thin creamy consistency it is applied to the plate with a anything
from brushes to rollers. Spaces are created between the ink by wiping away
or by simply not applying the ink all over. One or two successive layers
are applied in succession using inks that are gradually mixed to a thicker
consistency and these separate like oil and water to create beautifully,
colourful painterly affects.
Combining Collage and Monotype
With Mandy Pattullo
Sat/Sun | 5/6 March 2011 | 10.00 - 16.00
The beauty of monotype is the spontaneity and playing with colour using
rollers and brushes to created a printed painting. Mandy will combine that
with collage elements to build into the layers of your print using text,
pattern and tear sheets. You’ll learn to effectively blend colour, achieve
interesting results using resists and stencils and even natural materials
to create a mixed media print.
